The Kano State Hisbah Board has recognized a mother’s marriage to her daughter’s former suitor in the state’s Rano Local Government Area.

According to local media, Malama Khadija Rano, a divorcee, recently married her daughter’s boyfriend. Khadijah married the suitor after Aisha, her daughter, had rejected him.

The Hisbah Board had instructed a committee to investigate the matter following the allegations against Khadija, reported by Dailynews24.

On Tuesday, the committee submitted its report on the investigation. While presenting the report, Hussain Ahmed, the committee’s chairman and deputy commander in charge of Hisbah Special Operations, explained that the committee found that the marriage was legal and met all of the required criteria.

He claimed that Khadija had divorced her former husband and had waited the three months required by Islam before marrying a man previously rejected by her biological daughter.

Ahmed denied rumours that Khadijah was having an affair with her new husband while she was married and also the allegation that she forced her husband to divorce her to marry her daughter’s suitor. He stated that the marriage was legal under Islam, which is why the Hisbah commander in Rano Local Government Area supported and took part in the wedding ceremonies.
