Appeal Court Dismisses APM Suit Seeking Peter Obi’s Disqualification

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed a suit which sought to disqualify Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The suit sought to disqualify Mr Obi from the presidential race.

However, Delivering Judgement in the suit, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensan, the President of the appellate court, dismissed the appeal because APM lacked the legal right to initiate the lawsuit.

The judge who dismissed the appeal for lacking merit awarded a cost of N200,000 against APM in favour of Peter Obi and the Labour Party.
