Hotel Manager’s Alleged Killers Remanded in Kwara Prison

A Kwara Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of two suspected female armed robbers.

The suspects were on Tuesday ordered to be remanded at the at the correctional facility in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Adanma Joseph and her friend David Favour Oreoluwa, are accused of culpable homicide and armed robbery, specifically in connection with the tragic killing of Water View Hotel’s managing director, Adeniyi Ojo.

Background

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the suspects visited the MD at Water View Hotel, entered his room, and later left the facility under the pretext of purchasing drinks from a nearby garden.

The hotel receptionist, Abdulsalam Tawakalitu, grew suspicious when the MD couldn’t be reached, leading to the discovery of his lifeless body in the locked room.

The victim’s hands and legs were tied, and his mouth was gagged with a rag.

The investigation uncovered that the suspects took the deceased’s mobile phone, attempting to transfer money from his bank account.

However, their efforts were thwarted by the account’s demand for OTP (One Time Password).

Further investigation revealed a chilling sequence of events.

Joy, armed with a knife, codoline syrup, and a sleep-inducing drug, confessed to stabbing the deceased.

She threatened harm if he didn’t cooperate, while Oreoluwa unlocked the phone using the victim’s face, ultimately causing him to pass out.

Prosecutor Sanni Abdullah argued that due to the severity of the case and the loss of life involved, bail should not be considered

Court’s Decision

Magistrate Monisola Kamson in his ruling adjourned the case to the 29th of November, 2023 for further mention.

He also ordered the defendants to be remanded at the correctional facility in Ilorin, Kwara State..
