Landlord bags jail term for molesting tenants children

Igwe Ambrose, A Lagos landlord has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.

He was sentenced on Monday after the court found him guilty of sexual assault by penetration.

Background 

The convict was arraigned before Judge Abiola Soladoye on four-count charge bordering on indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault by penetration. 

He was accused of inserting fingers into the private parts of his tenant’s children aged 7 and 11 between January and June 2021. 

Court’s decision

Delivering judgemnt, Judge Soladoye held that the prosecution proved its case beyond  reasonable doubt. 

The judge who described the landlord as a “dirty old man”, said the survivors cannot consent to being violated by the landlord.

The judge said “The testimonies of the prosecution witnesses (survivors) were credible, as they cannot consent to being violated by the landlord.

“The defendant was identified as the assailant, and their evidence was corroborated by their mother and the investigating police officer (IPO) who visited the crime scene and confirmed a clear account of the assault and indecent treatment.”

Consequently, she sentenced Igwe Ambrose to life imprisonment.
