Court remands 19-year old for rape

19-year-old Isaac Odunayo has been remanded by a Kwara State Magistrate Court in Ilorin for allegedly raping a 17-year-old teenage girl to death.

The police told the court that Odunayo lured the deceased to a hotel where he forcefully had intercourse with her which led to her death.

The suspect told the police that he engages in internet fraud popularly known in Nigeria as” Yahoo Yahoo”.

Background

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the acclaimed internet fraudster persuaded the 17-year-old girl to a hotel.

The Police prosecutor, Abdullah Sanni, also informed the court of the suspect’s escape intention.

He said he lured her to the hotel and thereafter attempted to escape, but was apprehended by the hotel manager.

Subsequently, the hotel manager asked him to come and pay for his lodging cost, and also followed him for the last check-up on his room when they found the deceased lying dead.

“Thereafter, the manager followed Odunayo into the room, where they discovered that the girl was lying unconscious in the pool of her blood. The police prosecutor said.

“During the police interrogation, Odunayo confessed that he had sex with the girl, which resulted in her bleeding to death, and that he’s an internet fraudster,” he concluded.

Court decision

Following the arraignment, the presiding judge, Magistrate Mohammad Dasuki, considered the submission by the prosecutor.

He ordered the remand of Odunayo in custody till the next adjourned date.

The case was therefore adjourned till December 12, 2023.
