On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory High Court mandated former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, to issue a public apology to the judiciary within 30 days for referring to a court judgment as a “kangaroo judgment.

The court warned that failure to comply would result in her potential disqualification from holding any public office in Nigeria.

The judgment, delivered in suit number CV/816/2016, emerged from a case brought against her by the Nigerian Bar Association.

The criticism stemmed from Tallen’s response to the Federal High Court in Yola nullifying the candidature of Aishatu Dahiru, also known as Binani, as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State on October 14, 2022.
