A Abuja Division of the Federal High Cout has scheduled May 10 for delivering a ruling on former Governor Yahaya Bello’s request to nullify the arrest warrant issued against him on April 17.

Justice Emeka Nwite set the date following arguments from counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, and Bello’s lawyer, Adeola Adedipe, SAN.

The arrest warrant was issued before Bello was formally charged, prompting Adedipe to request its dismissal, citing Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. However, Pinheiro insisted that Bello must be arraigned before the warrant could be lifted.

Recall on April 17, Justice Nwite issued an arrest warrant to EFCC for Mr Bello’s arrest following an exparte motion to that effect.

Court’s decision

After listening to arguments from parties in the suit Justice Nwite adjourned for May 10 to rule on the application.
