An Abuja division of the Federal High Court has dismissed a suit against the election of the President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
Justice Inyang Ekwo on Monday dismissed the suit filed by a former presidential candidate of Hope Democratic Party, Chief Ambrose Owuru, on three grounds.
Mr Owuru instituted the suit against Buhari and INEC seeking a declaration of the court that he is the winner of the 2019 poll.
He also asked the court to determine the legality or otherwise of the decision by INEC in 2019 during which it postponed the election from February 16 to March 23.
The petitioner claimed that Buhari had usurped his tenure therefore he prayed the court compel Buhari to refund all monies he collected as salaries, emoluments and security votes.
He also prayed the court to order his inauguration for a four-year tenure in office upon removal of Buhari and that the court should stop INEC from conducting the 2023 presidential election.

Ruling on the matter, Justice Ekwo held that the suit was an affront to the supremacy of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
One of the grounds of dismissing the suit was that it constituted a gross abuse of court process and statute barred.
Mr Awru had filed a petition at the apex court which was dismissed following his absence on the date slated for hearing.
