A 34-year-old microfinance bank staff, Olatunde Olatimehin, has been arranged in Lagos for allegedly stealing the bank’s N569,225.

Olatimehin, a staff of Baobab Microfinance bank, Ojo, Lagos State, appeared before Magistrate L.J.K Layeni on Monday in Ojo.

The defendant was arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing and causing a breach of peace.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 2 at the bank’s premises.

He alleged that the defendant stole the sum paid by customers to the bank, and he received it through his account.

The prosecutor said the defendant’s conduct also caused a breach of the peace at the bank.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 168 (d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties. The magistrate adjourned the case until March 6 for trial.
