Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State and senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, has sued the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to court over disciplinary actions against him for alleged anti-party activities.
According to Punch, the suit was filed at the Abuja division of the Federal High Court on February 7, 2023.
On February 10, 2023, the former governor was expelled from the PDP alongside other key party members for anti-party activities.
Nnamani’s expulsion from the party was a result of his support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While declaring his support for Tinubu, he revealed that he could not support a northern candidate as a northern president has already ruled for eight years.
However, his support for Tinubu led to his suspension and expulsion from the party.
Aggrieved by the party’s decision, Mr Nnamani approached the court, asking it to determine whether it was proper for the party to take disciplinary actions against him without giving him a fair hearing. Defendants in the suit include the Independent National Electoral Commission, the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, and Samuel Anyanwu on behalf of the National Working Committee members of the PDP.
