Kogi state Governor`s nephew, Ali Bello and three others have been granted bail to the tune of N500 million each for their alleged N3 billion fraud by Justice Obiora Egwuatu.
Ruling on the bail applications on Monday, Justice Egwuatu held that he was inclined to admit the defendants to bail as the charges against them bailable.
Bello, who is the nephew of Kogi state governor was arraigned alongside Abba Aduda, Yakubu Siyaka and IYADAI Sadat on February 8, 2023, on an 18 count criminal charge bordering on fraud.
They were remanded following the judge’s order until today, when their bail application was heard.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges upon arraignment, and their lawyer prayed the court to admit them to bail.
The judge granted them bail in the sum of N500 million each, with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties should be resident in Abuja with identifiable address and must own landed property worth N500 million within the court’s jurisdiction.

The judge added that the original title documents to the said property must be deposited with the Registrar of the court, as well as evidence of tax payment for three years running from 2020 to 2022.
As part of their bail conditions they are to deposit their international passport with the court and can only travel after due permission from the court.
