The Action Alliance (AA) earlier today, withdrew its petition against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

The withdrawal was done during the pre-hearing at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.

The petitioners earlier contended the exclusion of their genuine candidate, Solomon Okanigbuan.

AA stated that Okanigbuan was excluded from the list uploaded on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

When the hearing resumed, AA’s petition was called and the parties announced their appearances.

The Action Alliance was represented by the chairman of the party, Adekunle Omo-aje who announced the appearance of Solomon Okanigbuan.

Simon Lalong, the Governor of Plateau State, represented Bola Tinubu. Although, the court said Lalong can only represent the APC and not Tinubu.

Thus, Oba Maduabuchi announced his appearance for the AA party.

Following that, confusion arose when Malachi Umuebe also announced his appearance for the same party.

Maduabuchi however, maintained his ground as the party’s representative and sought the order of the court to withdraw the petition entirely.

Because the AA failed to consent to be joined in the petition, he demanded the withdrawal of the party’s name from the petition.

He cited the Court of Appeal judgment which according to him said, “You people are not even members of Action Alliance adding that he would not like to drag the court into the matter.

“My prayers are that upon withdrawal, the petition be dismissed adding that “I have been served by the respondents that they are not opposing.”

Counsel for the respondent, Abubakar Mahmoud while responding said, “We have no objection, my Lord.”

Judge’s decision

Justice Tsammani, in a brief ruling dismissed the petition as requested.
