A 46-year-old tenant Usman Hammed has appeared before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ court in Lagos for allegedly mugging his landlady over an electricity bill.
Hammed is being tried for assault to which he pleaded not guilty.
According to Insp. Donjor Perezi, the Prosecutor, the defendant committed the offence on April 8 at about 9 p.m. at No 25, Olaniyi Str., Agiliti, Mile 12, Lagos State.
Perezi purported that the tenant assaulted Mrs Josephine Durodola, complainant when she demanded from him money for payment of the electricity bill.
He averred that the defendant hit the complainant’s head against an iron gate which caused her great pain and she was hospitalized.

The prosecutor maintained that the offences breached Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
M.O. Tanimola, the Magistrate, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The section stipulates three years jail term for a convicted offender.
May 16, was fixed as the adjourned date for mention.
