A Yaba Yaba Magistrates’ Court, has ordered the remand of three men at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre, Lagos, over alleged murder and attempted murder.
The trio, Mukaila Nofiu, Wasiu Rasheed and Hassan Kazeem, were arraigned in court on Monday, on three counts charges
The offences alledgedly committed violates Sections 233 and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
Background
According to reports, the trio on April 14, 2023, beat up one Alade Bello to death using plank and wood at Igbolodo village, along Ketu, Omu Road, Lagos around 2.46 pm.
The prosecutor Haruna Magaji said they also attempted to murder one Lasisi Sikiru, who escaped death but currently receiving medical treatment.
Court hearing
During the hearing, Magaji told the court that these three have violated Sections 233 and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015, and are due to be punished under the law.
One of charge reads, “That you Mukaila Nofiu, Wasiu Rasheed and Hassan Kazeem and others at large on April 14, 2023, around 4.35 pm at Igbolodo village along Ketu, Omu Road, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully killed one Alade Bello by hitting him severally with planks and woods and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
The plea of the defendants were not taken yesterday.
Subsequently, the prosecutor prayed that they be remanded, as the court await legal advice on the case from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Court’s decision
Magistrate O.Y. Adefope, who presided over the case dismissed the defendants’ plea and granted the prayer of the prosecutor.
The magistrate ordered the remand of the defendants at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre, Lagos.
The case was later adjourned till June 16, 2023.
