Police arraigns man over alleged N2.5m visa scam

The Police has arraigned one, Adeleke Abiodun before a Kaduna Magistrate court over alleged N2.5 million visa procurement scam.

He was arrainged on Tuesday on offence bordering on criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Upon arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and was subsequently granted bail.

Background 

On May 18, Hannah Kehinde reported the issue at Barnawa Police Station in Kaduna state.

She said the defendant deceived her to give him N2.5 million under the pretext of procuring visa for her.

However no visa was procured for her hence, she went to the police and lodge complaint.

Inspector Chidi Leo, the prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened Sections 233 and 214 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017

Court’s decison 

Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N800,000 and two sureties in like sum.

As part of his bail condition, the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The magistate adjourned the case until June 27, for hearing.
