A Lagos division of the federal high court has fixed August 15, to hear an application by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo on Thursday fixed the date to hear the application by Emefiele seeking to restrain FG from further prosecuting him.
Recall at the last adjourned date, the court granted Emefiele bail however, operatives of the SSS still took him away after a face off with prison officers at the court premises.
On August 3, FG filed an application seeking the leave of court to appeal the bail order granted Emefiele.
They also sought a stay of execution of the order remanding Emefiele at the correctional facility.
What happened in court
At the hearing, FG’s counsel told the court to first hear their application which seeks a stay of execution of the order for Emefiele’s bail.
He added that the prosecution has served the defence counsel the application on August 4.
However, Emefiele’s counsel objected saying since the FG disobeyed the court’s order, priority should not be given to them.
He asked the court to take both applications the same day and that the FG has nothing to loose since Emefiele is in its custody.
