Jos Tribunal affirms Caleb Mutfwang Governor

The Plateau Election Petition Tribunal in Jos, has handed a decisive verdict affirming Caleb Mannanseh Mutfwang’s election as Governor under the umbrella of the PDP.

The tribunal on Friday dismissed Dr. Nentawe Yilwada Goshwe of APC petition challenging Mutfwang’s election.

Recall Goshwe had approached the tribunal in a petition with allegations that Mutfwang’s nomination by the PDP was invalid.

He challenged the declaration made by INEC that Mutfwang was the duly elected governor of the state.

Background

The Governorship Election held earlier this year in the state, the PDP secured victory in 10 local government areas (LGAs), including Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Lantang North, Langtang South, Riyom, Mikang, Mangu, Jos East, Qua’an Pan, and Pokkos.

Conversely, the APC garnered the most votes in seven LGAs: Jos East, Kanke, Kanam, Pankshin, Shendam, Wase, and Jos North.

However, Goshwe in his petition alleged that Mutfwang’s nomination by the PDP was invalid and that the party lacked structure at the time.
