The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, announced the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)to be conferred.
The rank is to be conferred on 58 legal practitioners, following a decision reached during the 159th plenary session that was held in Abuja on Thursday.
Out of the 58 newly appointed SANs-Designate are 57 legal practitioners and one is in the academic category.
The list is organized based on their seniority at the bar.
The new SANs will officially receive their rank during a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for November 27, 2023.
With these appointments, Nigeria’s total count of SAN’s now stands at 681.
The SAN rank recognizes experienced legal practitioners who have excelled in advocacy and contributed significantly to the development of law in Nigeria.
