Angela Adams, has made a heart-wrenching appeal before a Customary Court in Abuja, imploring the court to dissolve her marriage.
In the plea made on Tuesday, Mrs Adams implored the court to terminate her marriage citing alleged domestic violence as the primary cause.
Background
Mrs Adams and her Husband Titus Adams are both officers of the Nigerian Police Force
In her divorce petition submitted at the Jikwoyi court, Angela revealed that her husband subjected her to relentless physical abuse, frequently resorting to violence over minor disputes.
She distressingly disclosed that he specifically targeted her eyes during these attacks.
Angela recounted a traumatic incident when Titus struck her face, prompting her to shield herself with her hand, resulting in injuries.
With tears in her eyes, she shared the pain and suffering she endured due to these violent encounters.
Additionally, Angela accused her spouse of deceit, asserting that he had concealed the fact that he had two children with another woman and had recently impregnated someone else before they were married.
Moreover, she informed the court that Titus had obtained a loan of N750,000 in her name from a microfinance bank.
Instead of using the funds for the initially claimed purpose of procuring wood and zinc sheets, he had used the money to rent and furnish an apartment for another woman.
Fearing for her life and the welfare of their only child, Angela earnestly pleaded with the court to grant her custody of the child and dissolve the marriage.
Notably, Titus, who is also a police officer, was conspicuously absent from the court proceedings.
