The Resident Magistrate of Bombali District, Mustapha Briama-Jah has sentenced Amadu Kamara to two years imprisonment over phone theft.
The magistrate sentenced Amadu on Tuesday after finding him guilty of stealing Tel Andriod mobile phone belonging to Fatmata Sesay.
This is According to the particulars of offence at #42 Station road makeni in the Bombali Shebora chiefdom in the Bombali Judicial district in the Republic of Sierra Leone,
The particulars revealed that Amadu stole one blue Tel Android mobile phone valued for Le 1,800.
Background
While accounting to the court, Fatmata who testified as the first prosecution witness said the convict met her at her balcony and begged for food that he was very hungry.
She said she entered her house and brought him food. whilst he was eating, she went to her backyard to use the rest room.
According to her, following her return, she couldn’t find her phone neither did she see the accused whom she has given food.
She reported the matter at the Mena police station which led to the arrest of Amadu.
Subsequently, he was investigated and charged to court on one count charge.
In his final appearance on Tuesday 7th November 2023 before Magistrate Mustapha Briama-Jah, he pleaded guilty on the offence and asked for mercy.
Police Constable 18548 Mansaray IA prosecuted the matter while Lawyer V. Koroma of Legal Aid Board served as the defence counsel for the convict.

Court’s decision
Delivering his judgment, the Magistrate sentenced Amadu to Two years for the offense of Larceny, contrary to section 2 of the Larceny to Act, 1916.
