Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late singer IleriOluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has revealed her side of the story at the Coroner Inquest in Ikorodu on Tuesday,

She said Mohbad had been suffering from the effects of bullying, psychological trauma, and an arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Details of Testimony

Omowunmi disclosed that Mohbad passed away in his room on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

She said at noon same day, he took his bath but wasn’t feeling well.

He requested they turn on the air conditioner in his room, but when it didn’t work, they hurriedly moved him to their son’s room.

She recounted that she was in the kitchen at that time. Upon her return, she found a nurse administering an injection to Mohbad, who was requesting the removal of the syringe.

At that point, they rushed him to the hospital.

According to Omowunmi, during the car ride to the hospital, the driver noticed that Mohbad’s hands had become cold.

She narrated, “Immediately, I called a motorcycle for him, and we rushed to the hospital. Inside the room at the hospital, there were doctors, nurses, a DJ, and Mohbad’s brother.

They informed me of his passing, but I couldn’t believe it, as I had spoken to him just 20 minutes prior.”

Omowunmi mentioned that on the day before his death, they had attended a show where Mohbad had performed.

Following his performance, he complained of fatigue and a desire to go home but was asked to wait. A dispute broke out inside the car, with Mohbad’s younger brother and a friend involved.

They had a physical altercation, and Mohbad sustained a minor elbow injury.

She also explained that after an incident involving the NDLEA on February 22, 2022, where Mohbad’s head was injured, he became fearful and refused to go to the hospital.

The NDLEA had given him a substance, which led to lasting effects, including memory loss.
