The Nigerian Army has inaugurated a special court martial in Sokoto.
This was made known in a statement on Tuesday by the Nigerian Army through Godwin Mutkut, the commander of Operation Hadarin Daji.
He emphasized that the court’s purpose was to handle various offenses committed by soldiers in various theatres of operation across the country.

He said Like all courts, the special court martial is established to deliver justice not only to the victims of an alleged crime but also to the state and the accused persons.
He urged the court to assess all evidence before it in accordance with the principles of fairness.
Decide each case on its merit to ensure justice for all,” emphasized Mutkut.
Assuring personnel standing trial, the commanding officer affirmed that the court would be guided “throughout the trial by the principles of natural justice and fair hearing as encapsulated in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and other laws and procedures related to their trials.”
