The Court of Appeal in Lagos, has affirmed the election of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the March 18 2023 governorship election held in Rivers State.
The appellate court in a unanimous decision on Tuesday dismissed four appeals filed against Fubara’s victory .
The court held that the appellants failed to prove non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
The court criticized the tribunal for dismissing Tonye Cole’s appeal based on the APC’s withdrawal of the petition, affirming that Cole, as an individual candidate, could still pursue his appeal.
The four appeals dismissed were filed by; Tonye Cole of All Progressive Congress, Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party, Innocent Ekwu of the Allied People’s Movement, and Lulu Briggs Dumo of the Accord Party.
